Report 1: Mitch Hedberg
1. I have chosen Mitch Hedberg for this portfolio because I grew up listening to his stand up and he is one of my favorites. His jokes are unique and simple. My siblings used to play his CDs in the car often. Then I really discovered him from just searching through my Ipod and found that I could listen to his stand up over and over. I never really knew what he looked like until I started this report.

-All three of the views quite equally match my perspective. Mitch was significantly dopey-styled and could tell his jokes in a way that could only be funny by hearing it opposed to reading it. Sometimes the reviews criticize his manner, but that is what made him genuine.
3. Mitch Hedberg is a famous stand up comedian known for his bizarre humor and unusual comedic delivery. He was born in 1968, but sadly died in 2005, age 37. His manner of speech, word play, and objective observations specifically made him different. One of his biggest problems was stage fright, so he would perform with glasses on, head down, eyes closed, and/or with his hair in his face. Sometimes his nervousness would cause him to shake the mic uncontrollably. Also, he was openly a drug user, joking about it, but also had gotten arrested in 2003 for possession of heroin. He recorded three CDs, completed his own independent film, starred in multiple TV shows, and appeared on Letterman often. Mitch influenced present-day famous comedians such as Demitri Martin and Aziz Ansari.
On April Fool's 2005 he overdosed on cocaine and heroin and was found in a hotel room in New Jersey. Ironically in an interview much earlier he was asked "If you could choose, how would you end your life?" and he said, "First, I'd want to get famous, and then I'd overdose. If I overdosed at this stage in my career, I would be lucky if it made the back pages."
4. Mitch Hedberg is mostly comedic than satiric. He is notorious for having a cult following of fans. The subject of most of his jokes is just American culture, self-depreciation, and every day life, especially regarding food. To pinpoint an audience, it would have to be a younger audience in favor of drinking, drugs, and a carefree lifestyle.

Original Notebook excerpt about one of Mitch's visits to Seattle:
“Hey, there’s the comedian. He doesn’t seem funny.” No shit. Because I’m trippin’ out, man. Here you are surrounded by those you know well. And here I am, fish outta water struggling to breathe. Tell you what…you be funny now. I’ll be quiet. A quiet guy is not necessarily unfunny. Think of Charlie Chaplin. The space shuttle soars through space. But most of the time it’s parked. Maybe on a launch pad. It is still the space shuttle. You can’t dis it because it’s resting. I’m on my launch pad. Soon the countdown will begin. I love funny people. I was funny in social situations. Still am. But when I turned that into my job, I eased off it in everyday situations. Tonight I’ll go onstage and make people laugh for 45 minutes. And I bet the funniest person you know, if you added up the amount of time in one day that they had people cracking up still wouldn’t add up to 45 minutes. “He doesn’t seem funny.” Fuck off.
