Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
Report 3
1. I have chosen Anchorman: the Legend of Ron Burgundy because it is one of the most memorable movies to me. Almost every part of the movie is quotable and classic. I have probably seen the movie too many times to count and never grow sick of it. Again, it is a staple in my family's movie collection.
[to Baxter]
Ron Burgundy: What? You pooped in the refrigerator? And you ate the whole... wheel of cheese? How'd you do that? Heck, I'm not even mad; that's amazing. How 'bout we get you in your p.j.'s and we hit the hay.

This review describes the movie as silly and not the "most consistent comedy in the world." I agree that it is silly, but it stays on a comedic track throughout, never losing consistency. Stephen Hunter from the Washington Post states about the movie: "You will laugh. Then you will laugh some more. Then you will laugh still again." This proved very true for me personally.

Anchorman is said to be "attacking in a rather random and disjointed fashion" leading to comical representations of TV anchors from the 70s. This review calls this movie the funniest of the year and that it is one of the first movies for Will Ferrell that reflects his own sense of humor. I know that I have never seen this precise kind of humor from Will Ferrel aside from this movie, not even in Step Brothers or Ricky Bobby. Something about him in this movie is very different.

This source is the first to present the movie as being satiric. It is satiric because of how closely related it is to the real thing. However, the big Roman-like quarrel between rival local news teams does not seem to work for this critic. I think that that random digressions from the hilarious realities only makes it funnier.

3. "Anchorman" is a comedic film about San Diego's top rated newsman in the 1970s. The presented conflict is when a female enters the male-dominated scene, and surprisingly is very successful and a sure threat to the norm. The hilarious crew consists of "Champ", who does sports, "Brick", the idiotic weatherman, and "Brian Fantana," who does on-location reporting. The protagonist, Ron Burgundy, does most of the evening broadcasts where the "San Diegans" are shown always adoring him. He is always confident and dressed well, yet egotistical and ignorant. He soon falls in love with Veronica Corningstone...until she becomes a threatening Co-Anchor. Ron loves whisky, poetry, jazz flute, and especially his dog Baxter. The movie is a sure classic that everyone will always love.
This film was released in 2004 and made about $90.6 million worldwide. The film was directed by Adam Mckay and written by both Will Ferrel and Adam Mckay. While the film's setting is San Diego, most of the shots are from Los Angeles, Glendale, and Long Beach. A major question after the movie's success was if there would be a sequel. However, the sequel issue has been on and off whether it will happen and currently it is believed that there will be one released in December 3013.

Ron Burgundy: [driving in car, speaking to Baxter] Oh, Baxter, you are my little gentleman. I'll take you to foggy London town 'cause you are my little gentleman. Wow, this burrito is delicious, but it is filling.

4. The film's comedic focus is on left-field jokes and sexist humor. The movie pokes fun at TV anchors from the seventies. You could call it "stupid" humor because of its oblivious hilarity at ridiculous points. To think of such "stupid" humor, someone had to be smart. The unpredictable quality of each moment in the scenes lends to the ultimate entertainment-- one moment Ron is on a date, the next he's on stage blowing flames out of a jazz flute. In a way, it feels like parts of the movie are almost improvised. It's the kind of movie that gets funnier every time you watch it.
Ron Burgundy: Boy, that escalated quickly... I mean, that really got out of hand fast.
Champ Kind: It jumped up a notch.
Ron Burgundy: It did, didn't it?
Brick Tamland: Yeah, I stabbed a man in the heart.
Ron Burgundy: I saw that. Brick killed a guy. Did you throw a trident?
Brick Tamland: Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident.
Ron Burgundy: Brick, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you're probably wanted for murder.
