Report 6: Shaun of the Dead
1. This is another one of my favorite movies of all time. You can ask anyone how much of a zombie fanatic I am and they will surely agree. At first I was extremely afraid of zombies, but this movie was almost a turning point because it brought out the humorous side of the horrific characters. Shaun of the Dead is also probably the only comedic foreign movie I have seen.
Shaun: We take Pete's car, we drive over to Mum's, we go in, take care of Philip - "I'm so sorry, Philip" - then we grab Mum, we go over to Liz's place, hole up, have a cup of tea and wait for this whole thing to blow over.

This review ranks Shaun of the Dead 5th out of the "25 Best Foreign Comedy Movies." I agree that the movie is worthy of being so high-ranked because it has made such a mark on all-time comedies worldwide. The review is very praising, saying that the movie earns their respect and is "utterly brilliant." I am very favorable of this particular review.

Rotten Tomatoes reports another great rating. I like how it points out that the movie "cleverly balances scares and witty satire." The numerous positive ratings emphasize that the movie is a real success.

This particular review compares Shaun of the Dead to other horror comedies like Scary Movie. The difference between this movie and the usual horror comedy is that not only does it "poke fun at the absurdity" but it does so while telling an emotional and gory story. The main actor, Simon Pegg, is praised as being "the best kind of character…the likable loser." If anything, Shaun of the Dead is easier to bring a date to than Dawn of the Dead.

3. Shaun of the Dead is a widely successful British zombie comedy that came out in 2004. It was directed and co-written by Edgar Wright, the other co-writer, who is also stars as the protagonist, is Simon Pegg. The story revolves around just a regular guy who has several conflicts in his life dealing with his girlfriend, mother, and stepfather--except on top of all this he has to cope through an apocalyptic zombie attack. The zombie issue is notably influenced by George Romero's Dead trilogy.
The cast consists of many British comedians and was filmed entirely in London. Most zombie extras are simply locals. The movie was an instant hit in both the UK and the USA, even when released to only a limited amount of theaters. George A. Romero enjoyed their work so much that he asked them to cameo in his next Dead movie. Of course, Wright and Pegg insisted on cameoing as zombies.
4. Shaun of the Dead is filled with cheeky humor, visual gags, wit, and satire. The complete cast is triumphant with chemistry, and each cameo is hilarious in its own way. The most impressive part is how the grotesque addition of zombies to the whole story can still be as funny as it is and portray the zombies in a comical light. It's reasonably straightforward in all, but the best parts are in the details. The movie covers everything: comedy, horror, and even romance-- now known as "Rom-Com-Zom."
